The Officers, Trustees and Members of the Black Diamond Gun Club would like to welcome you as a new member. The Black Diamond Gun Club was established February 12, 1940, making it one of the oldest clubs in the state. As a member you are entitled to full use of the club during open hours. Along with this privilege come responsibilities. Safety is our number one concern. Please follow all range rules and shoot safely. And again, welcome.
By submitting the membership application form you attest to reading the orientation and agree to the following waiver.
I do hereby waive any and all claims for damage against Black Diamond Gun Club (BDGC), its members, officers, or owners of any area where BDGC activities may take place, arising from my participation in any BDGC activity. I further agree to abide by all safety regulations of BDGC and I understand, failure to comply with said regulations would result in my suspension from BDGC, or removal from the activity. I further certify, I am over 18 years of age or have the permission to participate and am accompanied by a legal guardian or parent during my participation in BDGC activities.
I have never been convicted of a crime of violence, nor am I currently under indictment for a felony.
I further state, the skills learned through BDGC will be used for sport legitimate self-defense. I understand, I will not be allowed to participate in BDGC activities unless BDGC has this Waiver of Damages completed by me or my legal guardian or parent in its possession prior to my registering to participate in said activities.
You must read and accept the Agreement and Release of Liability before using the Black Diamond Gun Club facilities.
The gate near the Caretakers house controls access to the Gun Club. Only members have access cards that open this gate. To open the gate hold your access card next to one of the card readers on either side of the gate, the gate will open and then automatically close behind you. There is a computer attached to the gate mechanism that will record who passed through the gate and the time of day.
The gate access card is for member’s use only. Sharing your card, even with family members are grounds to revoke your membership resulting in the forfeit of all funds paid to the Black Diamond Gun Club.
The Caretaker and his family live on the club grounds to provide security and to maintain the club. Under no circumstances are they to be asked to open the gate because you forgot your access card. The caretaker has been told by the Board of Trustees to provide access to no one, Please Do Not Ask.
The patterning board is a quarter inch steel sheet covered with grease containing pigment. When shot with a shotgun, the grease is displaced by the pellets. The hits show as black spots on the board. This is a great place to pattern your shotgun.
DO NOT SHOOT rifles, handguns, buckshot, slugs, steel shot or lead shot larger than #4’s at this board. DO NOT put paint on the patterning board. There is a roller behind the board. Most of the time the board will not require more grease, just roll over the last pattern. If the board needs grease please notify the person at the counter in the club house.
The green manual trap located on the north side of trap house one may be used at any time during daylight hours if the 200-yard range is not in use, check before shooting. You must supply your own targets.
The Clubhouse is open every Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, every Saturday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and the second and fourth Sunday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. These are the days and hours the Gun Club is open to the public for Trap Shooting. Restrooms are available in the clubhouse during open hours. Soda and candy may be purchased from the machine any time during open hours.
We have five trap fields with lights for night shooting. All of the trap houses contain automatic Pat-Trap trap machines. All trap machines are equipped with voice-activated pullers. Each machine will throw both American and Continental trap. The machines in houses one and two will also throw Doubles. The trap machines are only available during public shooting hours. The houses are kept locked during all other times. Trap adjustments and change over between American, Continental and Doubles should only be done by qualified people. If a machine needs adjusting or changed over, please tell a club officer, trustee, or employee.
If there is a red flag or cone on top of a trap house, it indicates someone is inside filling the machine. If you are on the field for that trap house, all guns must be unloaded with the actions open and the barrel pointing at the ground. Do not point a gun in the direction of the trap house. When the person exits the trap house the last thing they want to see is a gun pointing at them.
The outdoor lights are used Wednesday night during public shooting hours and during special club sponsored events. Under no circumstances are they to be used for casual shooting during hours other than those identified for public shooting.
The rifle and pistol ranges are open to members only and may be used during designated hours only. They may be used on designated days with the exception of Police Department days, Continental Trap League shoot day, Pacific International Trap Shoot days and special event days. Police shoots normally do not last all day so be sure to check the calendar before you come out to shoot.
As stated earlier, trap shooting is open to the public during open hours. The rifle and pistol ranges are for members only and their immediate family when accompanied by and under the direct supervision of the member. Family members are not allowed to use the member’s access card when the member is not present. Members must wear their access cards in a visible location when using the rifle or pistol ranges. The card must have a picture of the member affixed to the card as provided by the club. Members are allowed to bring guests one time to introduce them to the club’s facilities. A ‘guest’ is anyone other than an immediate family member. A member is only allowed to bring a maximum of two “2” guests at a time. Guests must be under the direct supervision of the member at all times and must follow all safety rules as defined by the Black Diamond Gun Club.
When coming to the rifle or pistol ranges you must first sign in with the Range Safety Officer on duty at the range. The Range Officers can be identified by an orange hat, coat or patch that says Range Safety Officer on it.
The 25 yard pistol range was designed to stop bullets from leaving the range, make sure yours do not. Target stands may be moved around out to 25 yards. Shoot pistol cartridges only, with the exception of 17 and 22 rimfire. The backstops are not designed to stop rifle cartridges and may be damaged. Be sure to set your targets so your bullets pass through the target and impact the steel plates, not the ground or the overhead laminated beams. Bullets impacting the ground will ricochet, either into the steel plates from the wrong angle or go over the back stop. If they hit the steel plates from the bottom up they will come back at the shooter, putting the shooter at risk and other shooters on the firing line, if they go over the back stop they will leave the property. If your bullets leave the property you will be held responsible for any damage they may cause.

No shotguns of any kind may be used on the pistol range. Shotguns may be fired on the trap ranges or at the patterning board.
The 100-yard rifle range adjacent to the pistol range is for long range shooting only. Do not move the target stands closer than 50 yards to the shooting benches unless you’re shooting the above mentioned high powered handguns, black power guns or sighting in a firearm. This range is designed for rifle and high-powered long range hunting pistol shooting. Keep the small handguns on the pistol range. Use one target at a time on your target stand. Make sure your bullets are impacting the back berm.
Shotguns with slugs or buckshot only may be used on the 100-yard rifle range. No birdshot is allowed on the rifle range; use the trap range or the patterning board for birdshot.
The 200-yard rifle range is closed during public trap shooting hours for safety reasons. Shot falls on this range from the trap ranges. This range is for long range shooting only, all targets must be at 200 yards. If you want to shoot close up use the other ranges. Absolutely no handgun or rimfire shooting on the 200-yard range, use the pistol range.
When walking between your vehicle and the ranges with a firearm the firearm must either be in a case, in a holster or the action must be open and the gun must be pointing straight up. If you store the firearm in the gun club gun rack the action must be open.
There is an assigned Range Safety Officer at the rifle and pistol ranges. They have complete authority over the ranges and will run the ranges as laid out by the National Rifle Association range manual and the Black Diamond Gun Club. They will shut the range down before any one goes down range and are responsible to make sure the range is clear before making the range live. Please obey the Range Safety Offices commands; they are there for your safety and the safety of others.
When the range is closed for down range target changing and inspection, all people, including non-shooters must be either down range or behind the red line painted on the floor, no exceptions. NO ONE should touch a gun or be at a bench for any reason. Before anyone is allowed down range all guns must be unloaded and have their actions open. When the range is closed, prepare your gun and step behind the red line until the Range Safety Officer gives the OK to proceed down range. When you return from down range go behind the red line until the Range Safety Officer re-opens the range.
The range rules for shooters are printed on the large sign behind the 100-meter range. Read these rules when you come to the range. Failure to follow these rules will result in the termination of your membership.
Shoot at paper targets only. Metal targets, bottles, cans and other miscellaneous things are not allowed on any range.
No one under the age of 18 may use the rifle or pistol ranges without the supervision of the member. If the youth is under the age of 14 the member must stand next to and directly supervise that youth, no exceptions.
There is a Board of Trustees meeting on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM.
Your club has a general membership meeting on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 PM. All members are invited to come and take part. This is a chance for you to meet the officers, trustees and other members of your club.
The last Saturday of each month at 9:00 A.M. is the clubs scheduled work party. All members are encouraged to participate and support the club.
Clay targets may be purchased by the case from the club for a reasonable price.
Shot shell reloading components may also be purchased from the club during open to the public hours. The club sells shot, power, wads and primers along with a variety of gun cleaning materials, trap shooting equipment, new shotgun shells and club logo lapel pins.
If your mother does not work at the Black Diamond Gun Club, you’re going to have to clean up after yourself. Candy bar wrappers, foam coffee cups and the like go in the garbage cans that have been provided, not on the ground. Cigarette butts go in the ashtrays not on the ground. Rifle and pistol shooters clean up your brass.
