100-yard range upgrades

The BDGC 100 yard rifle range has been updated from 11 benches to 15 new concrete top shooting benches and adjustable height stools. Each bench has number above it for lane identification. Between bench 2 and 3, a gap of 36” was placed to ensure ADA compliance for either a right hand or left shooter in a wheelchair could be accommodated. The walk to range access has been updated via a controlled side entrance and hallway. The drive to range access has been updated with a swinging gate with a stop sign attached. An additional target stand, new stainless steel target markers, and Live Range Warning sign will be installed within a week. The target maintenance area has been updated with an outside gate and control access framing. T1-11 siding will be installed prior to the rainy season to the outside of the hallway and maintenance area. The target stand area has been moved to the maintenance area, the blocks and sand bags have been relocated.

A note from Phil Johnson: I wanted to say thank you to all the BDGC team members and to our vendors that made this upgrade to our 100 yd rifle range a success. First I would like to thank the BDGC Board members for listening to my proposal and for approving the project. Thanks to Treasurer Gary B. for always promptly writing the checks to pay our vendors. Thanks to the BDGC team of Bob S., Dan F., Arlin B., Phil E. Ron, Brian B, Joe S., Mark L., Mark L., Pablo P., Jonathon, Eric C. and anyone else I missed for all their contributions to the project.

Thanks to the vendors and suppliers that supported the upgrade:

  • Ron and Leo’s Welding in Enumclaw for inserts and legs. (Ron donated the labor costs)
  • Puget Sound Precast in Tacoma for concrete tops (Holly, Mike, Ken, and Kevin)
  • American Powder Coating in Auburn (Sean and team)
  • Pegasus Northwest (BDGC member Kyle donated the stainless steel markers)
